Older Danish banknotes go out of use
All older Danish banknotes and the current Danish 1000-krone banknote will no longer be legal tender after 31 May 2025.
Older banknotes mean the series of Danish banknotes issued in 1944, 1952, 1972 and 1997. These and the 1000-krone banknote in the current series (from 2009) are still legal tender in shops etc. today, but will cease to be legal tender after 31 May 2025.
After 31 May 2025 and for one year thereafter, banknotes can be handed in at one of Danmarks Nationalbank's few drop-off points across Denmark.
