Culture cooperation
Since Estonia regained its independence in 1991, the cultural ties between Denmark and Estonia have developed into a valued cooperation on shared values and Nordic cultural heritage.
The historical and cultural ties between Denmark and Estonia have laid the foundation for cooperation across different areas and exchange projects, with several Danish regions and municipalities establishing co-operation agreements with Estonian municipalities and counties to organise events and activities.
Denmark and Estonia also participate in multicultural cooperation through various EU programmes, and the countries' culture ministers meet within the framework of the Nordic-Baltic cooperation, NB8.
On an official level, the two countries have not signed a formal cultural cooperation agreement, but are linked through education and research exchange agreements. For example, it is possible to study Danish language and culture at the Department of Scandinavian Languages at the University of Tartu.
