Danish jazz duo Sunding & Vinding interprets Nielsen

On 14-15 November 2015 the Danish jazz duo Sunding & Vinding will hold two concerts in Estonia.

Pianist Michael Sunding and double-bass player Mads Vinding formed a duo this year to set interpreting Danish composer Carl Nielsen’s (1865-1931) well-known songs. The result is an album released on 9 June, composer's 150th anniversary. The album "Michael Sunding, the melodies of Carl Nielsen feat. Mads Vinding” became the album of the week at Danish Radio’s (DR) jazz channel P8, and received critical acclaim.

The tracks from this album can be heard live in two concerts - on 14 November at 20.00 in Tallinn jazz club Philly Joe's (Tatari 4) and on 15 November at 15.00 in Vihula Manor’s restaurant La Boheme.

Pianist, singer and composer Michael Sunding has over 25 years been playing and writing music of various genres from jazz, soul, gospel and blues to French songs, gypsy music and salsa. He has worked with Etta Cameron and Billy Cross, written songs for jazz singer Malene Mortensen and arranged music for theatres.For many years he has been a teacher in the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen.

Double-bass player Mads Vinding started as professional already at the age of 16 to work in the legendary jazz club Montmartre in Copenhagen and has been for decades a familiar face on international stages. He has participated in more than 600 recordings and played with nearly all prominent jazz musicians from Quincy Jones, Chet Baker and Herbie Hancock to Stan Getz.

The concert in Vihula takes place within the frames of the Danish Week. The concerts are supported by the Danish Cultural Institute in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
