President Ilves to visit Denmark

President of the Republic of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves will be on an official visit to Denmark on 5-6 November 2015.

The aim of the visit is to confirm and strengthen the close cooperation between Estonia and Denmark as close allies in the European Union and NATO, and to increase the economic and political interaction between the two countries.

President Ilves will have an audience with with Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. He will also have a meeting with Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen where the bilateral and regional cooperation will be discussed as well as the migration and the crisis situation in the countries of origin of refugees, Estonian-Danish and transatlantic security cooperation, including cyber-security.

President Ilves will meet the speaker of Danish parliament Pia Kjærsgaard and lay a wreath onto the memorial in Kastellet in Copenhagen for Danish soldiers that have fallen at international missions abroad.

Ilves and former Danish foreign minister Uffe Ellemann-Jensen will take part in security policy debate "Stability in the Baltic Sea Region – Reality or Illusion?" organised by University of Copenhagen and the Danish Foreign Policy Society.

President Ilves is accompanied by Estonian business delegation. He will meet with Danish economic leaders in Copenhagen and take part in an IT-themed roundtable hosted by the Confederation of Danish Industry. President Ilves will also meet Estonian communities in Denmark and South of Sweden.  President’s delegation includes Defence Minister Hannes Hanso and MPs Yoko Alender and Henn Põlluaas.
