Nordic representations celebrated Midsummer together

Nordic embassies and the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia celebrated Midsummer jointly in Tallinn on 11 June, 2015.

The party at the open air museum in Rocca al Mare was opened with welcome speeches by Icelandic minister of culture Illugi Gunnarsson and the Chairman of Riigikogu  Eiki Nestor. Thereafter a bonfire was lit with a witch puppet on top, according to Danish Midsummer Eve traditions. The specialties of Nordic cuisine were offered, and the performances of duo Villu Veski and Tiit Kalluste, folk dancing group Okasroosikesed from Muhu and Estonian Ukulele Orchestra were enjoyed. Around 600 people gathered to celebrate the common tradition and sense of community between the Nordic countries and Estonia.

The celebration was hosted by the Icelandic Embassy in Helsinki, Embassies of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, and the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia - ambassadors Kristin Arnadottir, Søren Kelstrup, Kirsti Narinen, Dagfinn Sørli, Anders Ljunggren, and Christer Haglund, director the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia.
